Spline Rolling and Cold Forming
For Cold Forming involute splines, serrations, grooves, threads and similar forms
Spline Rolling is the fastest and most economical method of producing involute toothed forms. Many different types of splines, threads, grooves and serrated forms can be rolled - individually or in combination - in just 3 to 7 seconds.
Cold Forming Process is inherently accurate,
with surface finishes of 3 to 6 micro-inches obtainable.
Cold Forming is best suited for long production runs
or intermittent runs of a variety of parts.
Stronger Shafts result from greater density
of grain structure and reduced stress concentration.
Fatigue failure is minimized, and in many cases torque
load ratings are significantly increased. Tooth strength
and shaft life are greatly improved, with 15-35% higher
load-carrying capacity over cut teeth.
Smooth Surface Finishes within 3 to 6 micro-inches
have been obtained with Cold Formingthus the original
fit with mating parts lasts much longer, reducing wear
and minimizing backlash.
Save Material by using smaller-diameter shafts.
Cold Forming forms teeth by displacing metalthe
outside diameter actually "grows" during the
forming. You eliminate expensive chip production.
